Starting from the historical game project Echoes of Formosa, we created a culinary journey rooted in 17th-century Formosa. With Mata Taiwan as historical advisor and fieldwork lead, we partnered with Silks Place Tainan and Yao Ping Brownies to turn early colonial food culture into edible stories.
As players explore the virtual city of Tayouan, the dining experience brings that history to life through taste.
ROBIN’S chefs at Silks Place created dishes like vegetable-bacon stew, smoked venison, coconut shrimp, and pea bread—based on our historical research. Yao Ping crafted a sorghum brownie inspired by crops found in Dutch records. Mata Taiwan even sourced and revived 17th-century Mumme beer from Germany, debuting it at the press event for a 400-year taste of history.
From game to table, this project shows how food can hold time—making Tainan 400 a memory you can truly savor.
